Bladnoch Partners with Wigtown Book Festival
- 2 min reading time
At Bladnoch, community and storytelling are woven into our DNA. For over 200 years, we’ve stood proudly on the banks of the River Bladnoch, crafting whisky that carries the spirit of Galloway across the world. This autumn, we’re delighted to announce a partnership that celebrates that same spirit much closer to home – with our neighbours at the Wigtown Book Festival.
From 26 September – 5 October 2025, Wigtown will welcome thousands of visitors for its 27th annual festival. More than 200 events spanning literature, music, theatre, food, and visual arts will take place in Scotland’s National Book Town – just a short stroll from our distillery gates.
We’ve spent time with some of the incredible volunteers at Wigtown Book Festival and over the coming weeks will be sharing a social series that tells their stories and sharing what inspires them to be part of this remarkable event.
Supporting the Heart of the Festival
Every year, more than 100 volunteers are the driving force behind the success of the Wigtown Book Festival. Their energy, dedication, and warmth embody the bold Galloway spirit we so often speak about. Through this partnership, we’re helping shine a spotlight on the dedication of the volunteers and giving them the tools to keep shaping the festival’s future.
Our distillery has always believed in the power of grassroots dedication and the resilience of community. Just as Wigtown Book Festival was founded to bring new life to the region during challenging times, Bladnoch was revived in 2015 with the same determination to regenerate and reimagine. Together, we’re proud to showcase how culture and enterprise can transform a rural economy.
Join us for a Night of Stories at the Distillery
As part of the partnership, we will host a very special evening at the distillery: Bold Spirit: Tales of Galloway, on Thursday 2 October at 7:30pm.
Hosted by storyteller, author, and travel writer Graeme Johncock (known to many as @scotlands_stories), this exclusive event will celebrate Galloway’s character, mischief, and heritage. Guests will also enjoy the unveiling of our new limited-edition release: Loch Maberry: Stories of Bladnoch, Chapter 2.
This single malt, selected by someone with a deep connection to our whiskies, continues our Loch Maberry storytelling series. Guests will have the first opportunity to taste it alongside our Master Distiller, Dr Nick Savage, and meet the character who inspired its creation. From this date, Loch Maberry Chapter 2 will be available exclusively at our distillery and through our website.
A Bold Partnership
We’re proud to be working with the Wigtown Book Festival as it continues to inspire, connect, and enrich our community. Our Bold Galloway Spirit is more than whisky – it’s courage, warmth, and resilience. It’s in the volunteers who give their time so generously, in the writers who share their words, and in every dram we pour.
We invite you to join us this autumn in celebrating stories, whisky, and the bold Galloway spirit that makes this place so special.
