cask enquiry faqs

We’ve recently received an increase in enquiries regarding casks associated with Bladnoch and our Kirkcowan brand. While we understand the importance of your investment, please note that all cask sales from Bladnoch are made directly to third-party companies. If your cask was not purchased directly from us, all enquiries, including access, samples or information, must be directed to your broker. The FAQs below are designed to clarify our position and guide you on the appropriate next steps.

Does Bladnoch sell casks of whisky to the public?

No. Bladnoch Single Malt casks are not sold to the public or to any whisky brokers. However, we do sell Kirkcowan Single Malt casks to a select group of whisky brokers.

Is Kirkcowan the same as Bladnoch?

No, Kirkcowan New Make Spirit is different to Bladnoch New Make Spirit. It is still made from the same high quality ingredients at our award winning distillery in the Scottish Lowlands. However the flavour profile is distinct through differences in the production process. A cask of Kirkcowan may not be sold as a cask of ‘Bladnoch Single Malt Scotch Whisky’ as they are not
interchangeable.

I’ve purchased a cask from a third party. Can you help me locate or access it?

We are only able to communicate directly with the company that originally purchased the cask from Bladnoch. We recommend contacting the broker or investment company you purchased through, as they are responsible for managing your cask.

Can you provide information about my cask if I’m a private investor?

Unfortunately not. Due to the structure of our agreements with third parties and internal resource limitations, all such requests must go through the original purchasing company.

Can Bladnoch confirm if my cask exists?

While we cannot confirm individual casks for private investors, we maintain detailed records of all casks sold to third-party companies. In the unlikely event that your broker is no longer operating, we can support appropriate steps to safeguard your investment and help trace your
cask.

Can I get a sample from my cask?

Yes. A sample can be arranged through your broker. There isa cost associated and it may take several weeks, and this cannot be organised without the help of your broker.

Can I visit and view my cask?

No. All casks sold to brokers are stored in our long-term warehouses at Bladnoch, which are not accessible to the public.

Can I have the cask transferred to my personal account?

Bladnoch does not offer storage accounts for private individuals. If you wish to transfer your cask into your name, it must be moved to another storage facility. Please speak to your broker about this process, this would all be managed through them.

Is Bladnoch compliant in how it supplies casks and whisky to third parties?

Yes. Bladnoch operates in accordance with all relevant regulations and maintains full traceability for all cask sales. We take compliance and integrity seriously in every part of our business.

Which brokers do you sell to, or have you sold to in the past?
