A Bold Partnership: Honouring the volunteers whose stories shape the festival
As part of our Stories of Bladnoch journey, we’re proud to sponsor the Wigtown Book Festival — held each autumn in Scotland’s National Book Town. Since 1999, the festival has grown into one of the UK’s leading literary celebrations, welcoming thousands of visitors for ten days of books, music, theatre, and ideas.
At its heart are more than 100 volunteers, whose dedication makes the festival possible year after year. We were lucky to spend time with a few of them, hearing how they became part of the festival and why it means so much.
This partnership brings together two Galloway institutions rooted in resilience, community, and storytelling — showcasing how bold spirit flows far beyond whisky.
Each year, more than 100 volunteers bring the town to life. We had the privilege of meeting a few of them to hear how they became part of the festival — and why it means so much to them.
