A refreshed look & a live Christmas tasting
- 4 min reading time
Hi everyone,
To bring our fans closer to the journey we’re on at Bladnoch, I’m introducing a new quarterly newsletter that will combine distillery updates, behind-the-scenes insights, and a closer look at the projects shaping the months ahead.
I'd like to firstly thank everyone for continued support and passion for Bladnoch. Our team work tirelessly to give everyone who enjoys our whiskies the greatest of experiences and your passion goes a long way!
As our brand continues to evolve, I’d like to share a few updates. At the heart of everything we do is the same goal: to create great whisky experiences. As Bladnoch grows within the premium whisky space, our audience is growing and changing too. With that comes new expectations, and we genuinely welcome the feedback we receive - it keep us aware of how our whiskies are landing.
You might not always see the direct link between feedback and what we do, but it often influences our thinking. As we move forward, the challenge is always about balance. We want to meet the needs of a broader and more diverse group of whisky drinkers, while staying true to our whisky making principles. We know we can’t please everyone all the time, but we can listen, adapt where it makes sense, and continue crafting whiskies we can all be proud of.
So onto the exciting updates. Firstly, you’ll soon start to notice a refreshed look across our range. What was once our Twinned Cask will now be known as The Bold Collection, our Heritage becomes The Galloway Collection, and all limited editions fall within The Spirited Collection. This really emphasises our Bold Galloway Spirit at Bladnoch!
The rationale for these particular updates is to bring greater clarity to our whiskies, making it easier to navigate and explore our range and flavours. We feel that each name now reflects the character within - Bold for our vibrant, approachable drams, Galloway for those rooted in our home and heritage, and Spirited for the limited-edition, one-of-a-kind releases that each have a story to tell.
As I mentioned earlier, Bladnoch has to evolve as our audience evolve. Our audience is growing quickly and their drinking preferences are broadening, so our whiskies and experiences need to reflect that. At the heart of these changes is always our taste-first philosophy - every decision, from the casks we choose to the strength we bottle at, starts with how it will taste in the glass.
As part of that commitment, we’ve been looking at how each whisky delivers its flavour and character, and how we can offer a wider spectrum of experiences. That includes carefully considering flavours alongside mouthfeel and alcohol strength, so our whiskies can be enjoyed by long-time whisky lovers and by those discovering Bladnoch for the first time.
The Bold Collection will now be chill filtered and will be bottled at 43.4% abv. This allows us to create a whisky that’s well balanced in both flavour and alcohol feel, without undesirable cloudiness. As a result we’ve stayed true to our Bladnoch style whilst reaching a broader group of whisky drinkers. Our Galloway Collection and limited editions will continue at 46.7% ABV or more, and remain non-chill filtered.
As we wrap up the year, I’ve been reflecting on Loch Maberry – Chapter 2 and the story it allowed us to share. It’s been one of my favourite projects, and the response from all of you has been incredibly encouraging. We’re now starting to think about Chapter 3, and I’m looking forward to finding the next person whose story will help shape it.
Finally, I’d love to end the year but sharing a Christmas dram with you all, so I’ll be hosting two Instagram/Facebook live Q&As.
- UK: 18th December 7pm - GMT
- Australia: 19th December 7pm -AEDT (8am UK time if you fancy joining both!)
If you do have any questions you'd like to ask me, just respond directly to this email, and I'll answer as many as I can on the evening.
Thanks again, and wishing you all a happy holidays!
